To deepen the integration of industry and education and promote the cultivation of application-oriented talents, the School of Economics is actively preparing to hold the second phase of the Digital Trade Practical Training Class. It plans to arrange on-the-job training at Yiwu K World Import And Export Company, adopting a “work-study, industry-education integration” approach to build a bridge for the 2022 cohort of International Economics and Trade students to understand the forefront of the industry and enhance their professional competitiveness.

Following preliminary research and thorough communication, on June 3rd, the School of Economics and Yiwu K World Import And Export Company. jointly held an on-campus information session for their Digital Trade Practical Training Program. Members of the School’s leadership team, Liang Jie, Deputy General Manager of Yiwu K World Import And Export Company, 98 students from the 2022 cohort of International Economics and Trade, and their class advisor, Liu Lixia, attended the session. In his opening remarks, Vice Dean Li Guanghui emphasized that digital trade is a crucial trend in adapting to global economic development, and the School is committed to promoting professional development through deepening industry-university cooperation. Party Secretary Song Lan, in her mobilization speech, expressed her hope that students would use this practical training as an opportunity to proactively adapt to the wave of digital transformation, closely integrate classroom learning with enterprise needs, and grow into well-rounded talents for the new era.

During the presentation, Liang Jie started with the policy advantages of the Yiwu International Trade Comprehensive Reform Pilot Zone, and systematically explained the industrial chain layout, job competency requirements, and career development prospects of digital trade, using real-world enterprise cases. He pointed out that this practical training program will adopt a “corporate mentor + project-based” training model, where students will participate in real order operations and obtain internship or employment opportunities through performance evaluations. The company team provided detailed answers to students’ questions regarding “cross-border e-commerce product selection strategies” and opened the registration channel on-site.

On June 13th, a team of eight business specialists from Yiwu K World Import And Export Company visited the school to select 32 students for the practical training program, building upon the initial screening of applicants. During the interviews, company experts asked questions focusing on business skills, logical thinking, resilience, and communication abilities, with a particular emphasis on assessing students’ understanding of the digital trade industry and the accuracy of their career planning. Students also engaged in one-on-one interactions with company project managers, simulating real-world work scenarios to train their workplace adaptability and problem-solving skills.

After the interviews, Liang Jie stated, “Tongling College students demonstrated a solid professional foundation and a positive learning attitude. Some students excelled in data analysis and cross-cultural communication. In the future, the company will further deepen its cooperation with the college, exploring innovative models such as ‘customized training programs’ and ‘dual-mentor systems.'”

The successful hosting of this second phase of the digital trade practical training program preparation activity marks a further step forward for the School of Economics in cultivating application-oriented talents. Moving forward, the college will continue to optimize the school-enterprise collaborative education mechanism, dynamically adjusting the curriculum through joint training programs to provide students with real-world practice opportunities, helping them familiarize themselves with the industry ecosystem in advance. The college will also accumulate and promote its practical training program experience, forming a distinctive educational brand to empower students to better find employment and start businesses, and contribute to cultivating more high-quality, application-oriented talents to meet the needs of the new era.

It is reported that the second phase of the Digital Trade Practical Training Program of the School of Economics will officially begin this summer.
